Well seeing as he's almost five months we've reached a few milestones..
He's now 16 pounds and counting, almost doubling his birth weight. This being said he's on the cusp of growing out of the 3-6 month clothes. So "Hello" to 6-9 and 6-12! Parts of me are sad to see some of his cute clothes go, but I know he must grow up. Le Sigh...
He's got two teethies now on the bottom. He stopped drooling for a couple of weeks after they came in and now it's picked back up. So I suspect more teeth in around two months. Since he's had his teeth, his "talking" has increased. He's trying to use his tongue to communicate but right now it just gets in the way. And there is this high pitched squealy goodness that comes out. I've got video of it. Hopefully I'll have it posted on facebook in a few days.
When we were at the doctor's office last week he managed to roll from his back to his tummy. Surprised me! I've only seen him do it once since then, in his crib, but it sure was cute and snooty. Poor thing had an ear infection again. But that is getting all cleared up. Just so you know, he takes his medicine like a champ. He really really likes it. It honestly doesn't matter what I give him, he sucks it down. Though I only give him stuff he needs not just anything.
As for solid food eating, he's getting a lot better at it. He wants to eat the food more. And making homemade baby food is turning out to be really easy. Though I can't wait to get a bigger food processor. So far he's had: Rice Cereal, Oatmeal, Sweet Potato, Avocado, and Butternut Squash. Last night he gobbled down the squash. Honestly it is fun to have a soon-to-be five month old.
He likes to lay on the floor and grab his feet. He's working on his right foot now, I'm sure the left is going to follow soon. He'll also do a 360 with his body while laying on his back.
He's almost too big for the newborn side of his bath tub, and not quite sitting up straight and stable enough for the "infant/toddler" side. So we make the best of the situation and he kind of lays/sits in the tub or he'll sit at take a face full of bubbles while falling over.
He's getting more particular, if that's the best word, about people he hangs around with. It takes him a good half an hour before he'll start talking and being more of himself around people. This past weekend when we went to Centre to visit family, one of his great Aunts tried to pick him up and he just screamed at her. Kind of like the time when Auntie Jen decided to tickle him after he was born, and he squealed. He also doesn't like getting passed around a lot. He's a one person for a little while at a time kind of guy.
So, we're gearing up for the holidays and we're staying home this year! Ivan's tollerance for car trips lengthens a little bit every month, but we're still at 4 - 5 hours of car time before the water works and screaming break out. For example:
We also got our christmas pictures taken this past weekend as well, and I'm super excited to see them. Sometime this week or next the photographer will post a preview on her blog, so maybe one of those photos will be chosen as our christmas card photo!
I've thought about putting the tree up this weekend before my mom comes down. Just because she's bringing presents with her, and they'll need a place to go, so yay christmas! Also, we're going to go to Target and get some more family photos made with my mom here the day after Thanksgiving. I figured people would be shopping not getting photos done.
Does anybody know of a good place to get "Santa Pictures" made? I don't know if I want to go to Madison Square mall to get them done. Maybe Bridgestreet or Parkway Place will have something? Who knows...
